Prez , If your still using firefox , get this add-on addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/398It puts your current weather and next 2 days in your status bar , Also clicking it opens the AccuWeather page And resting your mouse on the Green dot(or yellow or red depending) it pops up a small radar image .

There's been rss available for years and years on my browsers, and I've never tried it, so I'm not sure if my question makes sense.
What does this mean, that there will be a button on the homepage and clicking the button goes to the rss page as you've give a sample of, or will these things (all the short headlines/paragraphs) will be already loaded in a scrollable box or boxes when we first go to the page?
If it's a button, that would be ok, but if it's a box that has to load before the homepage is fully loaded, I say no--that's the whole charm of the page, it loads fast without having to wait for another page to load within it first, and you know, sooner or later and more often than anyone would like, there's going to be a hangup with the rss, and the homepage will not load quickly and the loading of the homepage itself will have to be canceled before anything else on the page can be used.

DS: those feeds are from Fox News
RR: The fast page load is important to me too. It would be a section that wouldn't load unless you clicked on a request for it.

I'm playing with (faked) tabs for the alternate Homepage views. Try it and see if you like the direction I'm going.

My browser (flock) has rss feed detector built into it. If a page contains rss feeds it alerts me and asks if I want too view them... Does Firefox have that feature? Flock is a browser based on and produced by Firefox.
And cool on the Fox news rss. ;D

It sounds, then, that it will be a good thing. I frequently look at the news items on iwon.com but it's not rss, and I look at drudgereport.com but it too is not rss.
I couldn't find the "fake tabs" on homepage using the latest firefox v. with Windows NT sp2. I'll try later with my Mac at home.
EDIT: News Feed tab on FireFox with Mac works just fine. You sure nothing has to load in the background before for this before the homepage loads?

I designed it to look like the server monitors and the RSS feeds are loaded and layered so that you can click on the tabs to bring the desired info to the front. However, a tabbed system like that is too complicated for my novice HTML skills and would require the ALL information to load before the page would work properly (potentially slowing it down). So I faked it. The homepage just has boxes that look kind of like tabs, but they're really just links. There are two homepages set up identically on the top, with different bottoms. Clicking the tabs just loads the other page. If you watch your address bar you'll see the name change, where it wouldn't on a true tabbed setup. This means that nothing of the second page is loaded unless you actually click on the tab, so there is NO additional load time. It also means that if someone preferred to have the RSS as the default, the could just make their homepage www.lamronsplayground.com/homepage2.html and click when they wanted to see the monitors. If there is some other optional info that would be worth displaying, I could add additional tabs without changing load times for those who only care to see the default layout. This method gives me some expandability without sacrificing any of the original goal of making it as fast and lightweight as possible.

You might concider a tab or just a link on the main page that takes people too www.callofduty.com , where they can look up lots of info for mw, WaW, and upcoming mw II. Tech support and all that stuff is in their forums.

That's very clever Lamron! Nice. I still can't see it with my work pc, nor is DBD able to go beyond 7/31/09. I suspect it's the new blocker software my employer is using. I can't log onto my personal page of iwon.com, either, since then, and most of the links you degenerates provide are blocked as "adult" or "tasteless" or "personal file sharing" or "music downloads" or "games." Sigh, my own personal version of ObamaPCcare.

UPDATE: The Homepage has been moved. It is now the front page for www.LamronsPlayground.com. I redesigned the layout and reworked the whole thing. Comments on the new design or suggested links to be added are welcome.
